Is there still gas available in Big Bay? Haven't ridden that way in a few years and want to make sure before heading that direction.
Thank you!

Now there ya go dfattack! That's the way to do it! :encouragement:

That's funny you said something...I was going to say "as frnash would do [insert link] but without the fancy click here and arrows", but I decided to keep it simple and just put the link. I laughed out loud when I saw your reply. too funny.

1. From IMDB: (click →) Anatomy of a Murder, Filming locations. Note:
Lumberjack Tavern - 202 Bensinger Street, Big Bay, Michigan
2. (click →) Google Maps, 202 Bensinger Street, Big Bay, Michigan. (Note the reviews in the left panel, four of which were written within the last month, 26 within the last year.)

3. Google Street View:

4. (This 'sheet' ain't rocket science!)
5. Any further questions? :indecisiveness:

The addition on the Thunder Bay Inn where the bar is now was added for part of the filming. If I'm not mistaken, the actual murder occured at the Lumberjack Tavern which is still very much standing and in business.

(click →) Google Maps: Thunder Bay Inn, Big Bay Michigan. It's set quite far back from the road.
Check the pictures from the menu at the left.
The addition, where the bar is now? Maybe the part on the left here, from the Google pictures(?):
GooglePicTBI#1.jpg
And then there's the rather crude, primitive (click →) Thunder Bay Inn web site.
Located in historic Big Bay, and restored to its original splendor. Once the home-away-from-home for traveling Ford executives visiting the Big Bay automotive plant, Henry Ford's suite now plays host to tourists who wish to enjoy the tranquility of our wilderness and little village. In 1959, the hotel was the setting for the famous James Stewart film "Anatomy of a Murder".
Also, click on Pictures in the menu on the left side of the Thunder Bay Inn home page, then click on each picture'
(The actual pictures are far better than the web site.)

Note further, from IMDB: (click →) Anatomy of a Murder, Filming locations:
Some scenes (Interiors of Thunder Bay Inn!) were actually filmed at the Tripoli Bar, Ishpeming, MI
… which may no longer be there, or its "name has been changed to protect the innocent". Since it doesn't seem to be there now, and I don't know for sure exactly where it was, could that be the one that "the state highway dept had to buy" 'cuz "The state was doing some blasting and drilling and contaminated their well?"
Also some scenes were also filmed at:
Bay View Inn, Marquette, MI, which seems to no longer exist.
Mount Shasta Lodge - 1915 U.S. Highway 41, Michigamme, which is also no longer there.

[How they choose often many filming locations, often exteriors here, interiors elsewhere, all stitched together with film editing magic has always been a mystery, and fascinating to me. That must take quite a bit of research and driving all around trying to find "just that right look" for each scene.]

We stayed a night in this place a few years back, and it was cold and spooky as heck. lol We were the only ones staying there. Had to use space heaters in the rooms at night. It was a good price for the night though. Haha
