HEY GUYS!!
I just "waddled" over to the office and logged in! I saw the thread! Thanks Brad (and everyone) for your thoughts
and wishes. If my ramblings are hard to make sense,... I will blame it on the medications. Speaking of meds,...
GEESH! I am a walking Zombie. One pill for this, one for that, and two to counter act the side effects of each of the other ones. UGH!
2 years ago the Doc said the Left hip was completely shot,... and needed replacement. Well,... I waited as long as I possibly could,... then got the SHOT (which was awesome) and then set an appointment for the procedure. Good thing I did. By the time the SHOT wore off,... I was pretty bad. Those last couple of nights at work where pretty tough. Thank goodness I work the late late shift and have a wonderful Corporal!
The only thing I remember about the surgery was them trying to keep me alive when I was coming "out". My sleep apnea kicked in big time and I guess I was choosing to stay in la la land rather than try to "work" at breathing,... but it all worked out. I had surgery on Monday the 13th. They had me UP that night with a walker (using a hand urinal) and trying to walk a bit that night already. By Thursday, I could go up and down stairs (very slowly of course). So here I am at home. Doing therapy on my own,... and pretty much can walk (like an old man) with a cane.
My large arse is completely black. (Horrible actually) and I feel as if I was raped by a large broom handle (ya I know, graphic, but descriptive.)........ Other than that,......Hey! what a great day!
Really though. I AM a wuss when it comes to this stuff, but I am going to do what the doc says. Most of my stiffness I have to believe also comes from the fact that since I had major back surgery back in 1988, I can NOT sleep on my back at ALL,... and I have been forced to sleep on my back for the past week, so that can't help in the matter. I was going to ask though,.... is there any one of you OR your friends out there who have had a Total hip replacement surgery,... and could NOT return to snowmobiling???? I asked the Doc if it would effect it? He said,...
"What kind do you ride?" and smiled. So I "assumed" he was a sledder and it should be o.k. once healed?
I already sold my GoldWing this past spring because it was to painful to ride. But the rider layout for a guy my size was set up all wrong anyway,... but thats another story.
So,....
Projected return to work if everything works out,...around January 8th or 13th.
It's only been ONE week,... but I does feel a bit better each day!!! They say the problem lies in the 6th or 7th week, when ya feel totally recovered and a person happens to "OVER DO" things when things are NOT completely healed in the INSIDE and screws up the whole process! So that is where I have to be careful!
He said the PAIN I was feeling was not so much from the hip itself,... but from the massive area of arthritus that surrounded it. (it did look pretty nasty on the x-rays) He says the Right hip isn't far behind. Great.
Getting old sucks.
Oh ya,... My other doc(diabetes/thyroid doc) a couple weeks earlier had put me on this new weight loss pill. (the new phen-phen thing)
Last time it caused a heart flap and was taken off the market,......
anyway,...It works. It makes EVERYTHING taste like crap. leaves a metallic taste in the back of your throat, and literally NO appetite. Great! Guess it works!
Hey!
On a brighter "note" My song "TUBIN" won the modern Country Song of the year award 2 weeks ago at the SOWI Awards Banquet. AND just got word a popular artist is considering recording "But Ya Oughta". So I guess thats
better than a sharp stick in the eye!
Ya might see me on here a bit more because I will be more available. That may or may not be a good thing!
I sure do miss You all, and thanks for the kind thoughts and words,... and also for all your support for my music
in the past! This is sure one great family to be proud to be part of!
Limping along,....
~Randy
