Biggest snowpack this time of year (early May)?

Hi John. I see that Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood in Oregon is reporting a snow base of 193" today (May 6). Do you have any idea if there are other places in the U.S. or elsewhere in the northern hemisphere that have this amount of snowpack right now? Thanks.

I really do not know where to look to find reported snowpack, but I can almost guarantee that there are places with more snow on the ground. The Chugach range in southern Alaska would be one area and then of course there are still glaciers around in places like Alaska, BC and even some in MT. I would imagine the snow is pretty deep up there right now.

Thanks guy. I supposed I should've realized that Mt. Baker probably has more snow...that makes sense.

I didn't think about the Chugach, however; maybe I'll do a little googling over lunch break to see what I can find out.

Go to flickr.com and search for Paradise Inn deep snow for some cool pics. Warning, after viewing you might not ever think that the UP has deep snow again.

Yeah, Mt. Rainier, WA. My wife and I were up there three summers ago in July and there were still spot of snow still around the Paradise Inn. Most of the hiking trails near by were still covered with a few feet of the good stuff! After searching Flickr for those pictures http://www.flickr.com/photos/13669377@N02/sets/72157604496824029/
... now I wish we had gone earlier in the year!
