Bird dung ....

I have a few blue spruces surrounding the perimeter of our lot. In the spring the doves, robins, ect... decide to nest and turn my driveway into a dung dumping freeway. They fly from the trees to the roof peaks , back -n - forth. Is there some way to prevent the nesting process like a pet " blue jay " of something ? It normally subsides as the summer progresses but for a few weeks or so , I'm literally power washing the driveway 3 times a week to clean it. cars, whatever. It's more than an annoyance. ( NASH spell check please ). I would like to change the birds habits somehow.... other than cut down the trees or shoot the birds , ( hard to do in this neighbor hood ) . Then there is other issues, the neighbors cats decide that my property is a good hunting ground for chicks, so they kill the ones they can get, thus contributing to the mess. Any suggestions. a pet owl with a leg chain ?

Plastic Owls can work for some, we use them at the airport. We hang them from chains or cable so they move in the wind. They work on everything but the Starlings.

Eliminate any food source, at least on your lot like berry trees or bush. Do you have anything like that nearby ?

Or start attracting squirells (Im not pullin my dictionary out- I'll just check back later)

… (NASH spell check please). …
Huh? That all was remarkably free of spelling or grammatical errors. … None, in fact, unless ya want me to be really, really picky, in which case: "ect." is "incorrect", since it is an abbreviation for the Latin "et cetera" (meaning "and the rest"), the correct spelling is "etc.".

Whereas some dictionaries suggest that , "ect." (although usually "ECT") could be considered an abbreviation for electroconvulsive therapy, a treatment for serious mental illnesses, as severe depressive disorders, involving the application to the head of electric current in order to induce a seizure: usually administered after sedatives and muscle relaxants. :D

Good work, heinasirkka (Finnish: grasshopper)! ;)

Nash, I was after "annoyance".... didn't feel like getting my dictionary out either. The bird dung is out of control, yes .... I'm anal regarding cleanliness. There are so many droppings that it gets all over peoples shoes, ( Latin ) et cetera......

The neighbors cats thing, I kind of let slide just to keep the peace. That's OK .... if he forgets !!! and happens to leave his one of his garage doors open too far or all the way ( he cracks 1 about 8" so the cats can come & go ) I let my Dobe out , and she goes on the prowl !!!! right into his garage and eats the cats food ( LOL ) ! ! ! She has been "classically conditioned " ( Ivan Pavlov 1927) to check there for grubb. I believe it's a Karma thing !
