Black Hills Feb 4th to Feb 8th

Two guys from JD heading out to the Black Hills from Northern Illinois, and staying at Spearfish Canyon Lodge.

First time to the Black Hills, on new 141x1.75 and 141 x 2.25 sleds, and have had some minor boondocking experience in UP.

We mostly plan on trail riding and some meadows play, not looking for anything too crazy but we do figure on getting stuck a time or three.

Looking for input on to-go, not-to-go places and things to do. Anyone else from here going at the same time?.

Ive been real interested in heading out there possibly even this year but have been waiting to hear that the conditions are good there. I hope you guys hit it good I keep hearing how awesome it is if they have good snow.

Google snowest and check their forums under Snowtalk then look for subforums : Dakotas. Lots of info from some locals.

Low snow in the Hills. Trails decent but need 2 feet to play in meadows, so cancelling trip until conditions are better. Not going to drive 14 hours to just ride trails. Instead, trying NE Iowa or N Wisconsin depending upon dumping from next weeks storm.
