Black powder revolver

Anybody have one? Is there a quick way to clean these like some kind of spray? I really like shooting it but if I don't clean it up right afterwards it locks up pretty quick.

Black powder is highly corrosive so the gun should be cleaned as soon after use as possible. In Civil War re-enacting we obviously don't fire projectiles so soap and water work just fine as there is no lead residue. I really don't know of any shortcuts, it's just a somewhat messy downside of blackpowder shooting. :)

That's usually what I do is take the wooden handle off and dump it in the sink let it soak for a bit then clean with a toothbrush then run a wire brush through the barrel and cylinders and use pipe cleaners for the nipples then oil it up really good.
I cant hit anything with it but still like to shoot it. Now my wife she can break bottles with the thing at 20 yard with the thing. LOL:mad:

That's great shooting....those things weren't noted for their accuracy and really weren't designed for more than that. Well, not shooting round balls, anyhow....maybe different with conicals.

I have a Ruger Old Army revolver .045 - Lots of fun to shoot. Definitely have to clean with soap and water. You can do it carefully and not take the wood handle off of it.
Pretty much the same process if you get corrosive ammo. Primers are the corrosive part there.
Never Use Oil on black powder guns. Get the right stuff. I use a tube of Wax like stuff that is made for cleaning black powder.

I love shooting the thing. Its like holding on to a mini cannon. Big cloud of smoke.

i've been waiting for that for 10 days with my long gun, haven't seen a deer yet but miss that wait for the smoke to clear to see if you have one down, lol!

I use rubbing alcohol in my long gun. Works well with a bottle/tube cleaner. Just coat it afterwords with a protectant.
