Boat Mechanic West Michigan?

hey guys and gals, I've got a 19 foot Mariah with a leak somewhere around the I/O drive. It had a new bellows job 4 summers ago and was not used much since (I just bought the boat this July). So, I would guess it's not the bellows that's letting in water. I need a reliable and honest boat mechanic in the grand rapids area to diagnose and fix the problem. I'd be willing to drive to grand haven or Muskegon.

Does anyone know of an honest boat mechanic around grand rapids?

Thanks!

Murray Lake Marina. It's a mom and pop outfit and have done me well with my smaller boats and jet boat. They are a certified Mercruiser and Mercury repair shop and do not rip you off. They are in the South west corner of Murray Lake in Kent County. South of 5 mile and west of Lincoln Lake rd.

does it leak all the time...or just when the outdrive is up? if it leaks only when the drive is up, there is a little boot around the shift cable that runs out of the transom assy. to the drive that prob. has a crack in it, if it doesn't leak as bad when the drive is down it's because that boot is collasped and not stretched out

Guys,

Thanks for the responses.

I really can't tell when it leaks the most. It seems to me that it might leak the most when just sitting with the engine shut off. For some reason, it seems to not leak as bad when putting along at 1500 RPMs or so. The water level at the transom is the same in both these situations. I have not let the boat sit with the drive up for an extended period of time.

The way engine compartment is situated makes it very difficult to look at the drive assembly to diagnose a leak. I will be out this weekend, I am thinking about getting a little mirror on a telescoping rod to look down around the drive under the sun deck to see if I can spot water coming in.

Any ideas, let me know.

Thanks!
