I need some help diag. this problem, thanks in advance.

This weekend I was up North, and I started to have a bogging/no power problem, from a dead stop it runs and accellerates fine, from 40 mph and above and 6000 rpm and above, is fine, I narrowed the problem to 25 to 30mph and under 5500 rpm, when Im cruising at this speed range and I need to accellerate, the motor seems to bog/have no power untill the speed creeps past 40 mph or rpms get over 6000, does this sound like a clutch binding, worn belt or ???, top speed seems ok, on hard pack on lake was able to reach 95mph.

any ideas would be appreciated, thanks Rob

I would like to know how many miles you have on your clutches. It could be anything but I would start by looking at the primary clutch.Broken spring in the primary or the buttons wore out in the secondary clutch.

The sled just turned 4000 miles, I put a goodwin clutch kit in it about 2000 miles ago, everything looked ok then, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to take it apart and inspect everything.

Take a good look at the weight pockets to see if the weights are hitting the spider. The bushings in the weights ware out and then the weight drags and cuts into the spider.Light scoring is ok but if is cut real deep then you will need to replace the whole primary clutch.

Check the clutch faces for a groove that the belt could get hung up in, I have seen this before, even a slight groove can cause it to hang up. Just another idea...

There is some belt material stuck on the face of the pully, but it all the way down,(from idle), what a good way to clean that off, use carb clean and a rag/scotchbright pad??.
Im going to take the clutches apart and inspect anyway.

clean with a scotch brite pad, belt off, engine running. Hold it tight against the faces and run it up and down. You can feel for grooves at the same time, you will notice them through the pad.
