Brainerd Area

Anyone in the Brainerd Lakes area planning on riding Sunday? Would like to get out on a shakedown run. But only with locals who know what trails are high and dry? Thinking about it wouldn't have to worry about swamps. (PAUL BUNYON state trail open year round to sleds?). Pm me or post I'll check in.

Trails don't open until December 1st officially. Maybe there is a State Trail you can run, that technically is open all year. Not sure if they allow that in MN like they would on the Tuscobia in Sconnie....... Then again, its hunting season in Sconnie, riding now won't make the hunters very happy. Probably the same for the late hunt in MN this weekend.

Hoping the Paul Bunyon state trail is open like the North Shore State Trail is. Year round, if snow can ride.
Also wanting to meet locals within easy drive distance of TC.
Wouldn't have posted in open forum if looking to ride on closed trails.
Figured locals would know if PB trail allows sleds whenever snow present. Did a internet search couldn't find an answer.

Load 'em up and go then - Heck, you could hit the Munger out of Hinckley if MN State Trails are "Year round, if snow can ride" - A mostly rail grade that won't need much snow to be riding.

Personally, with as much snow as some areas got, I think they will NEED some snowmobiles to get out there and pack it down so it starts freezing. Otherwise this snow will simply insulate a good deep freeze preventing early grooming, with too much risk in the swamps to be out there in a groomer.

December 1st is only 10 days away, could it be? Could we be on the sleds then? With the forecast, I'm putting in for PTO a week from Thursday/Friday......

Found out this AM that the Paul Bunyan State Trail in MN is open to snowmobiles now. No grooming yet with with the snow being so wet and heavy the trail will likely be bumpy.
