Broken Phazer steering post

Well, while I was riding in the backcountry with Pat and Nick during John's Ride-In, my Phazer stopped suddenly when trying to bust through a drift. In stead of busting through the drift, I broken this...

(see pic #1)

Now, this is a small part but it is a big job to replace it. While I like Yamaha sleds, they could make it easier to work on these things. The following pictures shows how much I had to take the sled apart to remove the part.

I didn't need to remove the front for this job, but since I have it apart, I decided to replace the spark plugs and change the oil filter.

It is a nice sled until you have to work on it.

Thank you Pat and Nick for the riding before I broke the sled and helping me get the sled back to Hancock.

I know how you feel. I lost the starter on mine once and just had to keep taking more and more apart. Once you are framilar with the sled it all gets better.

I know how you feel xsledder, when I did the 5000 mile valve inspection on a Z1 Cat. Big job and I quit carrying the "spare" plugs. No way to change them on the trail.

Hey X
Glad to see you got it apart. I was the big guy that sat next to you at the dinner. My buddy greg and I thought that it would be alot of work just to get at your broken part.
We are going back up this Thursday to Baraga.
Happy Sledding

Big Dave,

I was nice talking with you at the dinner. Everyone be safe in Baraga and find a smooth trail for me, and enjoy.
