Let me just start by saying I hope I am not posting in the wrong place! I am curious if any one owns or has rode one? Thoughts good and bad. My 70 something year old father is not as comfortable on his Harley Road Glide as he once was. He thought of converting it to a trike but for the same price you can purchase a new/year old can-am. Thank you in advance for any responses.

I rode one last year and it was a ton of fun. Get the red and black one. The grey metallic blends in with the road and is hard to see. the Yellow one is, well not my color. It is easy to shift and gets up and goes. Tons of asccesaries available.

Definetly the way to go especialy if you are considering triking an existing machine. I have a trike and would trade it in for a spyder if I could get what I have invested in it but that is not possible. The RT model with the auto shift is a fantastic ride. If he rides one, you won't get him off it, without bringing it home.

I have a Goldwing Champion Trike right now.
I did try the Spyder but was to uncomfortable on it. Sits more like a crotch rocket.
I'm 68 years old and I think that a Trike like mine is better for us older people.
There are a lot of them for sale at a less price then what I have stuck in mine, $40,000.

The early version of the spyder had you sit in the rider forward position very uncomfortable for us older folks then newer version, newer model RT has a more up right sitting postion very much like a conventional trike.

I haven't ridden one yet, but I sure do like them. The only thing they are missing is a thumb throttle! :D

I agree with you skylar, to bad polaris doesn't make one huh! A few people i have talked to at the dealerships have said they are more similair in riding characteristics to a snomobile then to a motorcycle. Kinda cool.

The RT is definitely more laid back the the standard Spyder. I agree, they feel like a sled when you are sitting on one.

I have ridden one. I liked it a lot, but for the same reason I love my REV. Feels like riding a four wheeler to me...at least the sitting position. I would love to own one, but I wouldn't like forking over the cash for one. You definitely get people's attention when you are riding through town!

I rode one at the demo at Trackside last year. Definately feels/drives like a sled for the street. My biggest complaint, being an enthusiastic motorcyclist, is I really miss a front brake lever! The Spyder has an integrated brake system, which I have no problem with, but it is controlled by a foot pedal. The steering/handling feels very much like a sled; including the twitch and kickback over bumps and such. Another charicteristic they share with sleds is lousey gas mileage. Road tests report mid twentys MPG. Also agree the new RT has a more comfortable riding position.
