Buddy's Gloves Stolen at "The Birches."

We stopped in for lunch on Saturday and hung up our gear, as usual. My friend put his gloves in the arm of his coat. When we went to leave, his gloves were not the same ones he came in with. His nice gloves and wrist mirror were replaced with some crap pair with holes in it.

Which got me thinking...$225 jacket, $50 gloves, $125 helmet with $$$ communicator. Maybe it's a good idea to sit within sight of the equipment, or bring it with you right to the table.

That suks....some places wont let you keep gear close.....thats when I move on!!! as its alot money to just leave sitting at a door........yeap I trust no one i dont know......

That stinks. My son tells me I'm a little paranoid when, if I have a choice, Ill stop at pit stops where I can peek out at the sleds once in a while. Or stay at motels where the sleds are within ear shot, because as he says snowmobilers wouldn't steal from other snowmobilers.
X2 on keeping an eye on your stuff in restaurants, I'm speaking from experience.

A few years ago I caught someone walking out with my helmet. Their excuse was that they just needed to borrow it for a quick ride. Ya, right...I always keep my equipment within sight.

Sad that your son has to know the that we all may WISH that snowmobilers wouldn't steal from other snowmobilers...but...

I posted a thread that I thought I lost a bag and other items on the trail in Houghton, well I was wrong...
I went back to my sled that was parked by Ramada in Hancock and went to put my ball cap in the tunnel bag, well to my suprise....my bag was empty....they took everything. Hat's, spare tools, gloves, gauntlets etc etc...

While I was looking in suprise, a gentleman came up to me a said he saw a bunch of guys that were around my sled a few hours earlier....

First time in 20 plus years I had somethan stolen....

I know it's not much, put now I put padlocks on the tunnel bag.......

I thought maybe camera's their may have caught some video but they didn't....

Me too my gear stays with me or see ya! This is always the way it works leave POS helmet, gloves or whatever & you your new top of line is GONE.

If he didn't get taken away in an ambulance, you let him off too easy. No use for thieves, and if I EVER catch anybody taking something that doesn't belong to them (whether it's mine or not), I guarantee they will regret their decision for the rest of their life.

I hate thieves. Just recently while at the hospital for my daughters birth the hide a hitch was stolen off our tahoe in the parking lot during the middle of the day. I'm still boiling over it. I will be staying at "the birches" thur- mon and hope nobody tries stealin from our group. Good places still can bring bad people tho. It can happen anywhere.

Yeah, nothing against "the Birches"(other than no grill!). I just wanted to give a heads up where the thieves may be hanging.
