i am looking into getting a new sled but wont have quite enough money for one till end of january or febuary. i was wondering is is it cheaper to just wait and order a new one foir next year and ride what i got or buy one towards the end of the season. is there better deals and promotions when ordering in the the spring? polaris speacials are up at the end of the year. i also talked to a dealer and kinda gave ,me the run around and said i should come in this year yet(go figure). any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks mike

Buy one at a dealer in July or wait until August. People are ready to sell cheap then. I've bought 2 that way and got them at rock bottom prices.

It depends if you want the latest 2010 model then I would just buy it now. If you wait and buy the prior year 2009 model you will get a better deal around February or March.

You are not getting best pricing right now that is for sure unless OEM rebate. You are in hot zone. Spring deals are always good with rebates & free warrantys. I bought Fall ,Winter & Spring new & non currents. Oems trying to reduce inventory & raise prices which means inflationary pricing. Yam may do something new in 2011 above Apex, Poo expanding Rush platform, Doo will have an 800etek, & AC will continue to refine. If looking at Polaris I would wait & see what the Rush platform replaces in 2011 we know it is coming by spy pictures & talking to Poo dealers. Market, Platforms & pricing are changing right now. Will we pay higher prices is the question for the new stuff??

I'm planning to wait until late feb/early march to buy a new sled. Will look for a leftover 2010

I have been through this ringer this year. They told me how great the deals were and that I had to hurry. The sleds I sat on in August are still in their showroom and they are beat up from the million people that have sat on them. New cats have more power, skidoos ride great in the tighteys, yamis are smooth , talk about hard to decide. I decided to sit on my old girl for one more season.

If you can wait you will save some money. I got a 08 Crossfire 600 with 423 miles on it last March for $4700.

I would wait and buy a left-over 2010 next year. The dealer I buy from has always said end of Aug/early Sept is the best time to buy if you are looking to buy new. Dealers are trying to move their late model sleds to make room for the new "current year" sleds. Prices are marked down, and in most cases you can still get dealer rebates too. I bought a new '09 renegade early Sept. this year and got a deal I couldn't refuse.

I'm with sleddindoo. If you are o.k. with what you have for this year, wait until early fall next year and grab a 2010 sled. But, I know how a guy can get ansy. Pulling the trigger now might only be a difference of $500 to $800. Is it worth that money to have the new ride for this year???? That's the question you have to ask yourself. If you are o.k. with used, then waiting until summer or fall for a private party used 2010 sled will get you even more savings.

I know that in the last 2 years at the Polaris dealer in Wi, in Febuary, and March they will have 2010, even maybe 2009 sleds left, $1,000 to $2,000 off reg price they need them gone for the 2011 sleds that will be ordered in March.
This is the best time for a new sled buy it try it in the snow Febuary or March, the only downside is your choices might be limited to what they have left, but this years bad economy you will get a good deal!

If you are looking at polaris then now isn't the worst time if you want a rush. The dealers have dropped the prices on them quite a bit since they first came out because there is such a surplus of them out there. They were asking around 10,500 when they came out and now they are getting around 8500 for them.

Yamaha cut back there production of 2010 sleds last year and are mostly out of 2009 and 2008 sleds so getting a new sled isn't as easy as you would think and it will also keep the value of the sleds up for the next year or two.

Skid Doo new sleds are hard to find also in the E-Tech's.

If you can really wait then end of February and March is the right time and you may still get to ride it up in the UP a couple of times.

Funny I saw this same etek shortage comment on another site. Trackside Eagle River,WI has plenty of 600 eteks. Trackside is a super store & looks like eteks is all they ordered & have a bunch & in crates out back. I didn't count them too many. Ask for Greg or Todd both good guys & will help you out.

Some good deals if you look in the right places. A local dealer has several new Rush's on the floor at $8199. (No added set-up fees.)

Other models weren't priced too bad. You quite possibly could get into a new '10 model for what a person may try to sell their used '09 for. Pays to look or call around!

Years prior, the manufacturers & dealers told you this time or that time IS the time to buy. I don't believe that hype as much any longer considering what I've seen for "in-season" pricing.

Wow, if they are selling new Rush's for that much, I bet there are plenty of guys who are pissed because they spent 10,000 or so to snowcheck one.

Be objective about your search.

Problem with buying after snow is gone is you have to wait to use the sled and, you get basically one season of warranty. If you buy before snow goes away, you get to run the sled, get the bugs out under warranty, and you still have all next early winter should something go wrong with the sled...still under warranty.

Let the deal make the decision for you...let several dealers know you are shopping for a great deal...depending upon the inventory and how the sled sales are goin for that dealer they will either give a deal or not.

Frankly if you wait till the intro of new sleds in feb and early march, some guys bail on a perfectly good sled because their tongues are hanging down to buy the latest and greatest...and will price out a darn good deal on a sled with less than 1,000 miles on it. Then if no deals are to be had to your liking....you still have next Xmas to buy and use a sled that is a left over.

The broader your product availability the more likely you are of getting what you want. If you have your eye on a single model, that will close down your options quite a bit.

I like to buy right after Xmas to get two seasons out of the warranty....but I don't buy current year models....and I away check to see if I can get a used one first...because those can be the best deal of all.
