Buying a groomer

I am curious how the different clubs aproach this subject as it is probably a clubs biggest asset. I understand there are a lot of different ways for a club to purchase newer grooming equipment. Some clubs might have a deal worked out with tractor or groomer dealers. Some clubs work out something through thier county. For the clubs that are near the more popular areas, they might get more backing from the local establishment. How do the smaller clubs manage this? So, how does your club manage the purchase and financing of your grooming equipment.

Hi Gary,
When we bought our newer Tucker we took out a loan for about $10K which two members of the board had to sign for. It was a no brainer for the bank as we had about $9k still in our accounts but we needed some operating money. We paid it off in about 2 years. We located the Tucker in northern WI which was a trade in at an implement dealer.

How was the poker run last weekend?

This is a good question! I am the treasurer of our club and we are in the process of possibly making a very big purchase for a new groomer/tractor. Will someone who has past experience please send me a PM as I have some questions relating to the tax exempt status (501(c)(2)) and if it would best to try and make the purchase through our local town. Thanks! David
