Buying a helmet

I think a lot of it comes down to fit and preference (open, closed, modular), but I would just make sure you look for snell and not just DOT approved. It is a more stringent safety approval rating. IMO, HJC seems tough to beat for the money, but they are probably considered entry-level. Buy one someplace where you can try it on and where the people selling them know something about them.

Hjc

I have owned many full face, Ski-Doo Modular and snow-X helmets. I now own a full face HJC with a heated shield. I would recommend an HJC you cannot beat it for function and price. Do not buy the low range model, go with a mid to upper range. Mine I believe is the "Scratch" model...the electric shield is separate.

I use a Polaris AF-1.5. I really like it but not sure if they still make them. Good helmet for the money. Has never frosted in any Temp.
