Calling all plumbers...

I work in sales for a metal stamping company and we make many types of rough-in products for the plumbing and hvac wholesale industry.

Over the weekend I was wandering through a new home being built in my neighborhood and noticed a unique method to support 'drop ear' bend supports for pex tubing. The metal brackets you see in the photos are called a Hyco bracket and have many uses in the plumbing trades. We sell this bracket to many wholesalers, but I never have seen it used in quite this manner, thought it was an interesting and inexpensive method to support pex at the termination point. Personally I would have added another bracket along the top edge of the 'drop ear' to gain additional support, especially important when the drywallers hang sheet rock.

Is the drain pipe in pic ABS? Only PVC allowed in my neck of the woods. The Pex around here is red for hot and blue for cold.
Interesting differences.

Yes it is amazing how local building codes vary from different parts of the country. Go to Chicago and only copper pipe is allowed and galvanized steel trunk lines for hvac warm air. Out here on the left coast, PEX and CPVC for water and flexible duct for warm air are all o.k.
