Calumet/Copper Harbor Sled Dog Race and Snowmobiling ?

Anybody give any info on areas to avoid . Looks like sled dog races this coming weekend. Feb 27th thru the 1st.
Planning on headed north to Houghton/ Copper Harbor area Sunday the 1st. Will some trails be closed to sled travel on Sunday? Thanks

I would actually recommend trying to be in Calumet Friday evening for the start. You can hop off the trail and head into town. Park near Carmilitas and walk 1/2 block to catch the start. Really a cool thing to see. Otherwise, the race does not cause any major issues with getting around the trail system.

Thanks for the link with the info! Now I hope we come across a group of them and can sit and watch.

As John stated, the start of the race is clearly the highlight of the weekend's activities. We are coming up Friday again to take in the race, fireworks, and festivities. It is truly worth the time to see the start in downtown Calumet if you can possibly attend. Can't wait!
