Just received a call from the casino in Watersmeet. Said that they had an "emergency situation" and that they would be closed until further notice. Now we have nowhere to stay. Anyone else heard anything?
Yup closed, we took in guests who were stuck with no where to go. What a nightmare for their guests. Still haven't heard the reason yet
I figured you would be the right person to to ask. We would like to ride from Lando to watersmeet, #2 to #107,west on #8 to #3 then head south back to WI. We rode some of the Watersmeet trails yesterday and they were great, but did not get a chance to venture north. Thanks
geesh, this thread if full of horror stories... Knock on wood things turn around soon, heading UP in the AM
There has been a weekend since I rode 8 107 to 3 & back on RT and were no rocks like that in fact was being groomed & was super smooth last Thursday night. Had to be torn up to the max over the weekend to have exposed rocks. Sure 2 e is like that but not 8...maybe got trail numbers mixed up?
Here is a thought for people that don't get it if snow is thin and there's that many exposed rocks why the hel don't you slow down ?? The reward is no wrecked sleds or body's get it
This my first time riding in this area, but I am pretty sure it was Trail 8. The accident happened west of Ishpeming on our way to Sidnaw. That stretch of the power lines is also where I seen large rocks and antifreeze on the ground. It was a crap shoot all weekend. We started in Lando went to Iron River, then to Marquette, and then back to Lando. I had some of the best trails I have ridden on along with the worst. Some areas groomed very well and others not at all. There was one section we called about and asked if they would go out and groom it because it was so bad. They told us nope, not going out until we get more snow. Not sure exactly where it was but it was only for about a 10 mile stretch. Sorry I cant be more helpful. It was my first time in this area so I don't know the trails very well and I was using my GPS and the trails are named a little different than the Michigan Trail maps.
Just in our group one sled hit a rock perfectly on the left side floor board/belly pan and bent his rotor, another hit a rock and was thrown from his sled (cracked rib), another sled had a rock fly up and hit the air line on a new Ski Doo Enduro taking out the air ride, then the large rock that caused the accident. I guess if you are riding in these areas just be careful of the rocks lots of them of all different sizes small, medium, large and extra large! Just like everyone they could use more snow.
