Well since Thursday is the first day of "spring", I thought I would say cheers to my fellow sledheads to one of the best winters ever! What a season it was! We had cold from start to finish. We had snow from start to finish. We had ice from start to finish. Could a snowmobiler ask for anything more? I know there is still riding to be had up north, but my season is officially over.

For me it was a pretty special season. I got 3 trips out west in. I got to take my oldest boy on one of those trips for his first mountain riding experience. I also got to put on many miles right from my door. My middle boy got his safety certificate and I was able to take him on his first "real" ride. I got to ride with some new faces, and also hook up with old friends. I got to blow up TWO motors and a primary clutch because I was actually RIDING all year!!

This one will be locked into the memory banks for a long time!

CHEERS!

Cheers Indeed! We'll be talking about this one for a long time. It has been almost non-stop good times and good riding. Definitely lots of winter left (snowing hard here as I type this) but I'm probably winding down as well. Just too many spring jobs piling up. Hats off to those of you that will carry on into May!

It was one for the books, that's for sure! I'm predicting we are in a 20 year cycle of winters just like this one. That will take me up to 72 years old and I may start to slow down just a bit by then. ;)

snoluver1,

You sure did have a special season with big milestones with each of your sons. Nothing better than that and you made memories they (and you) will never forget. Great post!

Cheers!

Cheers to all.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but as snowy as it was, it was also too cold! I am very happy that many areas that have to "take it when they can get it" were able to play for much of the season and if I had REALLY wanted to ride in the cold, I could have.

I am hoping for a nice snowy season next year, maybe even one last spring ride if the snow hangs around longer than my forced hiatus from snowmobiling lasts.

If not, there will be next year, which will be bigger and better than ever!

We had a great season despite having two malfunctions with my Rush motor. Polaris did come through for me with parts on the first occasion, but the second time was the straw that broke the camels back. And now thanks to Kip, I have a new Viper on the way. My sled did stay together long enough to have a great ride saddle bagging Minnesota. Thanks go out to my JD friends for the advice on that trip. My wife did not ride too much with my sled being down so much this year, so a thank you to her for saying "just go and ride my Rush" Cheers Honey!! Now it's going to be a long summer waiting for those Vipers to show up. Happy Summer everyone!!!

I kept a journal this year and just realized we were riding nearly every weekend since Christmas. Two thaws for our area, early January followed by -51 Wind Chills. Then a rain event at the end of February but there was so much snow that the trails were salvaged along with some fresh snows. I made two trips north but the real prize was riding locally, played "hooky" a couple of times during the week to have the trails all to our selves.

The only negative for me were the Winter Haters complaining about the cold and snow. C'mon Man, you live in Wisconsin and you don't like the weather?

Anyway, that's it for me, time to clean things up, put a shine on the old girl and put her to bed for the summer. Without doubt, a great year to be a snowmobiler!
