China invading Michigan

Ever heard of the company Hauwei? This is really scary. A Chinese company is being allowed to provide the telcom equipment for 4g cellular equipment in the Detroit area. (The Thumb)
Hauwei has direct connections to Chinese intelligence. Once they have this equipment in place, any data or voice could potentially be sniffed or captured. This presents a major USA security breach if you ask me.

China was caugt by the US government in the past placing chips in Cisco telcom equipment that was being asembled in Mexico. This was caught before being installed because they are able to check the binaries loaded on the chips to ensure they have not been changed. (checksums did not match)

Check out this video.

I work in IT, we have used wireless cards from Alltell for at least 4 years made by them. Go to alltel's site and the support section and you can still download drivers for them today.

They are the largest computer/telecomminucations company in China. The company I work for had a partnership with them to integrate their hardware with our software. It was great way to get into the Chinese market. Our partnership has ended with them.

From Wikipedia: It is the largest China-based networking and telecommunications equipment supplier and the second-largest supplier of mobile telecommunications infrastructure equipment in the world (after Ericsson).

So you think this video I posted is just conspiracy theory BS? A friend email it to me and it was the first I had ever heard of this Chinese company. The guy who made the video (vince wade).... Is he just another wack job?

China makes so much stuff now I guess it makes sense that they would be a big player in just about any market. It still scares me that China has a track record of trying to or actually stealing propriatary company and government info. If I was a decision maker in these big companies deciding to use Chinese network equipment, I would not. Of course it is probably cheaper but seems there is risk associated with using their equipment that would justify going with more expensive options not being offered from China.
