1000009061.jpg Hey just wanted to give everybody a heads up that there are some knockoff Super Clamps II out there in the market... So make sure you're getting an authentic one.

Long story short this was originally from Amazon. At first glance, nothing seemed off—aside from the generic box labeled Super Clamp II and Made in China. I didn’t think much of it, assuming it may have been reboxed. Plus, I figured most products like this are manufactured in China, even if they're assembled in other countries, where the company is headquartered.

However, I inspected closer, I started noticing small details that didn’t seem right.

So the other, I decided to call Bowdriks Industries, the company that makes the Super Clamp. They were very helpful, and I asked if they were aware of any knock-offs in circulation. They said no, which reassured me a bit. Then I asked if there were any identifying markings on the authentic product—such as date codes or unique stamps—specific to their manufacturing process. While they didn’t mention anything super specific, they did confirm that authentic Super Clamp II units are molded with "Made in Canada" as part of the manufacturing process.

Well, guess what? The one I bought says "Made in China" on the box and only has "Super Clamp" along with a warning about exceeding 800 lbs molded into it.

I let them know that this one seems to be a knock off so at least so they're aware they're out there.

Lesson learned the hard way for me maybe this will save somebody else some aggravation.

Basically, thought my story ended there but received an email from them today and they're interest in this and I'll be working with them to get this clamp to them so they can check things out closer.

I do have plans to get a few of the real ones ordered up. As you know these aren't the most inexpensive things. So I'll probably buy one or two here and there. Eventually I'll get everything that I need... But I can say even with the knockoff version I see the value in them, especially with how fast they attach!

These clamps work great! I've had mine for about 10 years. They're fast, easy, and secure. As to "Made in China", I'll have to check. Mine looks identical to the one in the picture.

I find myself buying more and more on-line, mostly because it's so darn easy and convenient. I have noticed one Red Flag though, if it takes 2 to 3 weeks for delivery, it's almost certainly coming from outside the U.S. That doesn't mean it's "junk" or a knock off, just that they don't make or store the items states side. Unless you can stand in a brick-and-mortar store and examine the product firsthand, you're going to take the risk of lesser quality from China or elsewhere.

I've had my Superclamps for eight years now. Great product.

Downside is where to store them when not in use. Seems as though I am always tripping over them.

I found this on an FB group for snowmobile trailer ideas. The guy bought it from somewhere but I did not save the link as I figured I could make something easy enough.

My thought was to use a few of these rubber clamps for mounting tools. I have used them for other things and they work very well. As you will see in the link there are many different sizes and styles.

The name of the brand that I have bought and used is "Super Quick Fist Clamp" (the listings on Amazon are individual by size. The one below is just to give you an idea of options. The ones in the link below, look the same and maybe just as good. I just have not used them.

Interesting. May have dodged a bullet on this one. I ordered my kid a couple for xmas for his sled deck. Everywhere on Amazon was out of stock, so I had to order directly from a powersports shop in California. As odd as that sounds.

Well, well, well. I just ordered 2 of these off a place on ebay & I am pretty sure they are the knock-off's after looking at what I ordered closer. Darn it. At this point I guess I give them a try to see how well they work. Anyone know if these cheaper Chinese knock-off's actually work OK?
