It's easy, First take your time, there is a springs that can pop off and go flying. But go to chadt.us and download the manual it will give the best instruction and pictures.

I agree...

Don't worry about it. I have owned Skidoo's for years and never cleaned one. That's a Polaris thing.

Even running mineral oil, I took mine off once in 12000 miles at around 7000 and couldnt beleive what all the hype was about. Very little carbon and came off easily with just a little elbow grease. Could not tell a difference in performance.

I took the caps off and the plungers (or whatever you call them) move freely in and out. I assume they dont need cleaning after all? Is this a safe assumption?

If you have the covers off just take them out to make sure. I did that one year then just ending up cleaning them. Its a good garage job and do it while its still nice out. You could have a broken ear off a valve so its better to be safe then sorry when there is snow on the ground.

I agree with harvest, grab some beer and pull them out to check/clean them. Just make sure you buy the gaskets & o-rings to reassemble them. And remember which side is up. A camera works well if your not sure of what you are doing. A good rainy day job!
