Closing

Interesting this year with closure so early, especially after receiving the 4 new inches on Monday night, Tuesday. Scoop i heard is that for some reason this year, some landowners were concerned with potential damage or lasting effects of continued use/abuse with recent conditions. I respect and support what they prefer, since they are granting the use of the land, but even though it was a late and a bad winter, the base in most places was ice and was holding up ok. Rode the area last weekend, which was not good, but ok in many spots. So, last weekend to ride this area!

Thanks snobuilder. Just got off the phone with a riding bud, and thinking of put together a short notice trip for Sun thru Thurs. The weather is not looking good a week from now??? Your area sure got ripped off on snowfall this year from what one of landlords tells me. Thanks again for the info!!! We will probably be UPing it.

We will head up and ride what looks best on Sat and Sun....most likely southeast where they picked up 5"

I heard that the syrup operation shut down the trail through their land a little over a week ago. That is trail ss6 I believe north and east of Wabeno.

Correct on the maple syrup operation and ss6, but some other landowners brought up some concern too from what i heard.

I would also focus on riding southwest/west, as Northern and Eastern part of Langlade County picked up 5+, and western portions towards Antigo picked up 7 in some areas. Last hurrah if the weather holds.

I talked to the owner of the syrup operation 2 years ago. Very nice gentleman and quite a set up he has. I am in the food industry so was interested in his setup. Took the time to tell me how it all works and I thanked him for letting us ride his property. I can understand if he does not like the sleds zipping through while he is doing his business. I believe his main trail for the syrup is also the main snowmobile trail.

Working together, and getting along with each other, = open trails!!!

Beautiful trail that is about 8-10 miles long with 1/2 mile or so through the syrup op.
Absolutely no problem respecting the trail use for his business....I think with the warm weather the sap was running early????....Pretty elaborate network of lines between those trees!
