Condition of UP trail #5, headed north from Iron Mountain?

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a condition report for the subject trail. There's not anything yet posted on my "usual" trail conditions website that I look at. I'm considering a trip soon and would like to keep an eye on conditions. I join that trail between Channing and Republic. Rideable? Thanks much.

so are you looking for a report from Iron Mountain north? the section of trail that the iron mountain club maintains or the northern half where moose country maintains? up by republic?

I know the groomers operators who maintain the Iron Mountain section (southern half) and they tell me it's thin. I just got a picture sent to me two days ago showing how a groomer broke through some ice in a low/wet section. the groomer made it out, but just barely. I would imagine the moose country section to be a little better due to more snow on the northern end. I may check it out later today. If I do I will report back tonight.

I plan on trailering to Koski corner (M95 & 41 junction) tomorrow and heading north up trail 5 to 14 then on to Big Bay. They finally rated their trails good today on their website. If I don't check out the lower section of 5 from Iron Mountain today I will know how the northern half of 5 is tomorrow.

Thanks very much for the reply DF. I ride from the cottage and join the trail around the county line south of Republic, then ride either north towards Big Bay or Ishpeming, or south towards Iron Mountain (although it sounds like I may only be riding north anytime soon). Regardless, I'd love to hear your thoughts if you end up hitting any section of it this weekend.
