The CopperDog 150 dogsled race will be happening March 1-3 and will be using some of the snowmobile trails from Calumet north to Copper Harbor.

Here is a Link to A Map Showing Which Trails will be Used and When.

Things will run exactly like they have in years past, with no trail closures to snowmobiles during the race. There will be snowmobiles ahead of the first team on each race leg and also snowmobiles sweeping behind the last team on all race legs to alert snowmobiles of the teams of racers.

Just a heads up for those that want to see the sled dog teams and those that would like to avoid them.

Just bumping this back up to remind visitors to the Keweenaw, this is going on this weekend. Really cool thing to see, but be careful of the teams out on some of the trails some of the time.

This will be the third year I take the family up to see the Copper Dog 150. Awesome family event downtown on Friday night for the start and in Copper Harbor on Saturday for the finish of leg 2. And don't forget the finish on Sunday back in Calumet.

Estimated times the teams will be on the trails are found at http://copperdog150.com/ and scroll down a bit to see each day and times expected on each trail.

Taking the fam up as well. Great weekend. It's pretty cool to plan a route where you meet them on the trail at night. As soon as you see them, pull over, cut the sled, and enjoy them as they pass by in the stillness of the night.

One more thing. For those of you who want to see a part of the race, but are not up this way, check out the trail cam 2 from around 7:20-8:45 eastern time tonight, the teams will be going by the camera (facing the cam) every 5 minutes or so.
