Cracked Block ZRT600 C Ring Bearing Valley

I'm not sure if I cracked it, while spitting the case, or if it was there to begin with.

I spoke with the shop, next door, about welding it.

He said we'd probably end up blowing the thin piece completely off leaving some of the blow by in the bottom of the groove. We'd be worse off than we started.

Crack is about 3/8" down.

What's the purpose for the C Ring anyway since it's about 1/4" short of a full half circle?

Doesn't the Centering Pin hold the bearing?

My thought is to terminate the crack with a 1/32" hole. Then dremel the piece off.

Tough call since we're dealing with internals.

Options? This is a 97 ZRT600 Powder Extreme engine.

It looks like it was broken when the crank was removed.I would just cut the piece off then add a drop of loctite in the groove when you put it back together.
