snowfish Member Dec 24, 2010 #2 No oil in the crank case. The gas/oil mixture passes through the crank case & up into the cylinders. This mist coats the bearings & cylinder walls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuCUmQ9FxMU Amazing how that little amount of oil lubes the crankshaft & related components. That's why either roller or ball bearings are used in 2 strokes.
