love it...what a rush....you can feel the back tire wiggle over the rises....one little wall brush and its all over....they must run that road everyday to know like the back of their hand....cause that's MAXIMUM SPEED on tight corners....that would be so fun on a sled if it ever snowed there....id try it...heres my bud at the track...we used to do this on the street in the day

that's a heck of a race they hold over there, I also think its one of the highest kill rates of racers,a s MAN they really push the limits.
been riding super sport bikes off and on since the early 90's, from the young and dumb street bike guy, to a bunch of track time
But I am still impressed so much by what some guys can do on these bikes, its good to be young and have great eye's and reflexes
as I can sure tell you as you get older a lot of that stuff slows you down more than the desire to run with the fast guys!

personally sleds are about the only thing I get the same rush on as I do sport bikes, and a LOT less likely to get a ticket LOL

The race is still pure. Yes, they lose riders. The latest count is 246 RIP.
I know they ride the limit, but I'm glad there is a "Real" race left to see out there.

The annual race this year begins today.

do you guys know that the helicopters cant keep up with them? that's why when watching it the aerial view is usually pretty short

yeah most true super bikes will out run most helicopters, even the one's the police have, BUT they can keep things in view most times by climbing higher, but if enough room a super sport bike can pull away pretty good! LOL all the more so one's with some work on them and pulling the OEM speed stopper! and yes that is one pure race and I am glad there are places like that, that ain't so ??? after all, how else can things get better if the limits don't get pushed! Yrs back there used to be a guy that ran some wild street runs, here is a link this guy had some MAD skills and a lot of balls I wont say what he did was so smart but it was entertaining even when he got into his super sport Subaru rase car and would go out and get cops to chase him, and get away! even out ran some helicopters in the car! guy had MAD driving skills and a LOT of luck , to not get killed by some NON paying attention driver or hitting something??? there are a bunch of his videos' this is like one of a bunch thrown together!! The guy would go to police stations and do burn outs to get them to chase him?? LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNJ...dQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLFM3o01TzI

I had a suzuki 600 RR crotch rocket when I was 20. That was only a 600 and couldn't believe they were legal to sell it was so fast. I let my dad take it for a ride when I first got it. he was only gone a few minutes. When he got back I could see on his face he was "impressed" he got off and all he said was "I think you better just sell it" and went in the house. After I got rid of it he told me he hit 60 MPH in FIRST gear!! Ya I can't believe they can be street legal. Amazing stuff here guys. Thanks for sharing!!

I rode a 600 bike that had a death wobble starting at the 110 mph mark. I was lucky that the thing came out of the wobble at about 114. The only way to get out was light brakes or power through the ride. Guess where i put the hands and foot to work. Bike held solid after that until it slopped off gearing around 136, but it could hold that speed and stay solid. Funny thing about that bike.

My brother owned the bike and I asked him if he ever hit the top end. He stated that the 110 mph made him nervous, but he got the bike to 136mph. Dang ironic. :D

The riders in this event do not just ride fast. They work their buts off for the lead on their way. This is one of the prelims along the same roads.

after having owned a bunch of sport bikes, every single one I had the OEM speedo's were WAY off, they always had cheat built into them, some up to 15+ mph once you get over a 100.
one of my tamer bikes a SV1000s, would read 88 when you were only going 75, it made you always have to speed to ride on the hi way, was never a problem
could just about squeeze 100 out of first gear, but stock gearing would max you out at about 140-145 on a radar
My ZX9R was about the most accurate, just maybe 5-6 mph off! LOL

and all my GSX'r (750' s- 1,000's) were about 12 mph off once over a 100 mph!

don;'t recall what the rest were off the top of my head, but I never owned a street bike that was true to the speed you were going! I think they all add cheat to make them faster to the riders and who know's maybe even for safety reasons,
to show faster yet be going slower, maybe some guys would back off??
I was always too dumb to do that! LOL had to always find out the top end, far too many close calls too!
but something about having a machine that can go"X" and not trying to get there??
that just never sat with me, always had to try and see what it would really do!

It is a bummer that a simple thing like a speedometer seems to be so hard to make accurate.
We see the same problem all over the sled world. I run GPS to get the real speed.

I still think it is amazing how hard they push the bikes/speed on this race. They are a click away at any given moment for the whole race.

Somebody I know is over there for the first time to compete. It's quite the process to qualify just to be able to run!

yeah am sure they don't just let anyone ride like that, or the race would be all about crashes and life flights!

I think most folks going to watch a race like this are NOT looking for crashes as they do in NASCAR and like races
they want to see the limits pushed yr after yr

and yes, my brain won't process at the speed it used to, never mind the eye's
racing like that is a young mans game, when reflexes and eye's are in there prime

also amazing there isn't 9 million pot holes over there like there is in the USA , or like there is in my town
NO way you could run them speeds on any 10 mile section of road here, never mind as many miles as they have in that race!!

Wow! Hope they are successful.
I can imagine why the qualification process is difficult. A bad rider would be quite a liability for anyone running at speed.

I watched some of the Isle of Man Superbike footage early this morning. It was interesting how many parts of the track had black streaks on the road from tire slippage. That is scary riding with those speeds.
Mr. Dunlop earned some new respect. He set new records. Lap time under 17 minutes and average speed over 133mph for two in a row. Crazy riding.

Watching the other class races over the past few days. It is amazing what these riders do on those roads.
