Never rode in the area before and looking for idea's on cabin's or house's to rent 2nd week of Feb. Prefer around the trails and bar's. And good places to ride. Any help would be great. Thanks

Check out the Chippewa Resort or Paint River Landing. Otherwise, Iron River is next town to the west and has an Americinn and Lakeshore Motel on Ice Lake. The Chippewa Resort and Paint River Landing both have small cottages and a restaurant/bar on site.

In terms of where to ride, go any direction where find snow. Normally north will get you into the lake effect belt, but who knows this year.

I would agree with highhertel. If it were me I would push towards Iron river. 15 min away by car. Lots of trails there too and much more amenities to offer.

Mike what does it look like in the area? heading up tomorrow morning and gonna unload as soon as we find decent snow.Planning on staying in Watersmeet and gonna ride forest roads if trails arent good. any help is appreciated.

We have about 4-5" on the ground. I doubt I trails are even open locally as we were looking at the grass on Monday

Can someone give me any snow conditions in the Iron Mountain, Spruce or granite Bluff areas. We usually stay in the Iron Mountain area and travel/ride from there.

I have about 3" on the ground in Spread Eagle, just to the west of Iron Mountain. I don't think the trails are even open. I have a message out to a friend of mine who grooms the Iron Mountain trails and if he says anything different than what I'm telling you now I will post his comments.

just got an update from my friend. The gates are open but only about 4" on the ground. Nobody is riding in the Iron mountain area unless you don't care about your sled. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

I hope a couple weeks changes things. We will wait it out. Even if we get 3 days of riding the area, its worth it to us.

Any snow in this area yet? If not what would be the closest area to ride from Iron Mountain?

Thanks,

MAK

I don't think anything has really changed much since you started asking. As you know...no major snow. In fact we got a couple of inches then the same afternoon it started to rain and we pretty much lost the snow we got in the morning. I'm heading up to the area Thursday, but it looks like I will have to trailer somewhere that's getting Lake effect snow. I haven't had to trailer for 3 years. Been able to ride right out of my garage which is nice.

Thanks for the update. I have family in Mokena/Tinley Park.

Darren ....Ken and I will try to get thru to 107 tomorrow. There has to be a way looking at Frs but that would be tuff return after dark. I will also call some money in iron county see if they can get the groomers going.

It has been a couple weeks since asking how the trails are out of Iron Mountain. Any new snow to head East? Trail conditions to avoid.

Thanks,

MAK
