Current snow storm

john why is the snow not getting into the keweenaw it did same thing last night but finally got here looks like it just stopping like about 10 miles south of houghton almost a straight line what is cuases this just the high pressure to the north and dry air to north ?

There were a number of factors.

First, you need to know that just because the radar shows precip over an area, that precip may not be reaching the ground. Precip can evaporate in the dry air and never reach the ground, even though it is being picked up by radar. Secondly, there is the radar shadow that most of the Keweenaw is in, so sometimes it can be snowing or raining and not show up on radar.

As for this system, the first point (precip not reaching the ground) was one part of it and the second was that at times, the high to the north was sending in dry air that helped to hold down the intensity of the precip over our area.

On Saturday, the energy just stayed to our south and that is where the precip was created.

However, many areas of the Keweenaw did as well as other areas of WI and the UP with this storm.
