Heading up to Curtis/Seney area on the 2nd. How is the lake ice on Big Manistique? Safe to cross? It looks like snow shouldn't be an issue based on what I'm seeing. Thanks for any info you can provide!

I went by the east shore yesterday heading down to Curtis, saw one truck in the county line launch parking lot. I assumed that person was out fishing. Didn't see any shanties out there yet, but with the cold we're having, it's gotta be making good ice all day/night.

Thanks! Lakes down in SE MI slowly making ice even in these conditions. My lake is still only about 5". My rule for the kids is 6" minimum to ride on the lake. Have a great rink set up though!

Texted a buddy of mine for a report. He was out the last 2 nights fishing and ran into 6-8" of good ice where he went, no slush yet, and not very much snow on the lake. I would think that another 3 or 4 days of deep freeze and you should be good to go wherever on the lake, minus the inlet/outlet areas.

12/29/17, Big Lake is frozen enough to cross safe, not deep snow on it due to wind but it is freezing nice, has some slush spots but its not thin ice, its from cracks that the water came up thru, just keep speed across those areas, probably be hard by the time you get there. Also some A-hole with a pick up truck is plowing the Luce county part of Trail 43 (old Seney road) just North of 10 curves right down to the gravel & right to the edges up to the Schoolcraft line, about 2 miles. Don't know why? not logging there? anyway, the lake should be very good by the time you get there on the 2nd. Ride safe & have fun.
