Polaris makes it tough for dealers to stay in business. You have to have so many sleds on the floor and then you pay interest on them.
In my opinion, Polaris is hurting themselves by their policies. I'm not sure how the other manufacturers work; if it's the same way or not.
There's a local guy over here that still works on sleds and he can get OEM parts from another dealer. It's just a pain in the neck. At least he still works on sleds.
This statement is not entirely true.. My local Polaris dealer ( Oscoda Powersports ) is a Polaris snowmobile dealer and due to overall poor snowmobile sales the last few years Polaris has not made them stock or floor-plan any current year sleds the last two seasons. The dealer has had lots of non currents to sell and can order current models one by one as needed to fill customers needs. Oscoda sells a ton of Polaris ATV's and that may have factored in to Polaris's deal with them but I don't know for sure.
I don't ride Polaris but I see this deal as a good thing. I know of several Ski-Doo dealers that were left high and dry by Bombardier to go under with no help....
