Went by Dan's Polaris this past weekend and it looks like he is not in the snowmobile business, saw a Victory sign, but nothing on snowmobiles. Anyone know if klhe is in the snowmoble business or not??

I called up there a couple months ago and they said they were still servicing sleds. They were not selling new sleds any more. They also said they were renting sleds still also. This information could of changed. I always used them for service when up snowmobiling. Top notch service every time I was there.I hope they have not closed for good. :(

I just spoke with them a few hours ago. They are still in business and still renting sleds this season. Not sure of anything beyond that but they are definitely still open.

Polaris warranty items or sled sales people can now go to Marty's old store. KMS (houghton Power Sports) is handling Polaris now. Todd is still back there in the back and wrenching on sleds when needed.

Polaris makes it tough for dealers to stay in business. You have to have so many sleds on the floor and then you pay interest on them.

In my opinion, Polaris is hurting themselves by their policies. I'm not sure how the other manufacturers work; if it's the same way or not.

There's a local guy over here that still works on sleds and he can get OEM parts from another dealer. It's just a pain in the neck. At least he still works on sleds.

This statement is not entirely true.. My local Polaris dealer ( Oscoda Powersports ) is a Polaris snowmobile dealer and due to overall poor snowmobile sales the last few years Polaris has not made them stock or floor-plan any current year sleds the last two seasons. The dealer has had lots of non currents to sell and can order current models one by one as needed to fill customers needs. Oscoda sells a ton of Polaris ATV's and that may have factored in to Polaris's deal with them but I don't know for sure.
I don't ride Polaris but I see this deal as a good thing. I know of several Ski-Doo dealers that were left high and dry by Bombardier to go under with no help....

I'm glad to hear that I didn't know all the facts. The dealer that I mentioned had to stop selling snowmobiles in '06 because of the high overhead. It sounds like Polaris may be making better business decisions.

If that's the case, Polaris should get some good sales people to explain this to different dealers. There's a lot of money to be made; despite a bad economy.

My dealer does not have to take "X" amount of sleds either. They order in what they think they can sell. They sell quite a few atv's and utv's though. When they sell one atv, one is automatically ordered for them.
