Deer Haven't Left Yet

Unlike years ago, it seems like more and more deer spend time hanging around town. However, when the snow gets too deep around town they leave for the winter going to the deer yards. They will stay away until late March or early April and then return to town.

Well, so far this year the deer are still in town. They haven't left for the winter yet. I saw one outside my house tonight. I put a couple of apples out for them. However, when the snow gets deep enough they will leave regardless if you are feeding them or not.

Anyway in the last few days we got over a foot of fluffy lake effect snow.

A few years back we rode into eagle harbor, and it was like riding into some kind of Stephen king movie, there were deer standing everywhere, and you actually had to steer around them, had even up until this day seen anything like that, it was very eerie and they just stood there. I would assume deer out numbered towns people 10:1, and when we got to destination the person at restaurant told us that when snow gets very deep in woods they migrate towards lakeshore where the snow isn't as deep.

Yep, like that all the time there. Same way in the warm season we found.
