REED CITY, MI -- The good old Detroit Lions. Some argue that this is the best part of the season, when their record is even.

But there is one man who says he has the answer for this team that's been in the dumps for a while now.

“Go Lions, yup, this is Joe, doing an interview right now," said Joe Paquette, as he answered his phone.

That's right, Joe Paquette answers the phone "Go Lions." This man bleeds Honolulu Blue and Silver and his feet show it.

"I'm going to bring the word SISU to the Lions, and they'll see what SISU means when we march into the parking lot," said Paquette.

It's more than a march, it's a hike. He started in Munising last Sunday with all eyes on Restoring the Roar and to explain in person what SISU means. What does it mean? It's a finnish word for Guts, Determination, and courage, something that fans would argue the Lions haven't had for the last 53 years. He's about half way to the promise land.

The 63 year old man is making the 450 mile journey from Munising to Detroit to show his love for the team, but also show the determination that they may need.

Throughout the journey, his chauffer, and brother in law, Howard Masters got sucked in being the only other Lions fan in the family...the rest, they love the Packers. He fixes up Joe's war-torn feet, but told him before he left; he won't give him mouth-to-mouth or put him on life support if he goes down. But for the Lions, he's on board.

"I'm 70 years old, I remember the Lions when they were good," said Masters.

"My job is to be a cheerleader, and that's what I'm here for," said Paquette.

He doesn't call himself the biggest fan, just a fan, taking SISU to the field for the organization that needs it.

"I think once the Lions see what SISU can do, get a 63 year old guy with arthritis in both legs, 450 miles from here down to Detroit, I think hey're going to go with it, bite into the ball, this isn't the run to daylight, this is the walk to daylight, but they're going to have the run to daylight," said Paquette.

Down the field, or road, again, a Lion victory. GOOO Lions.

Paquette says he hopes the Lions can finish 9-7 or better. He says he expects to arrive in Detroit sometime next week.

Sorry, but that old..."we'll get them NEXT year" thing is gettin very old. In fact the record has a grove worn in it 2 feet deep.

With cable and sat tv...it is easier than ever to be a fan for another team...any team...if you really love hockey that badly.

Yeah, I did say hockey....cause the lions haven't played football in years!
