Dim lights

I've been getting a 1995 Supersport running for my kids to play with. Hasn't ran in 5+ yrs. So after repairing exhausts, cleaning carbs, replacing steering post, fixing recoil, etc... I finally started it up last night. Runs real nice but headlight is very dim. Taillights appear dim also but hard to tell as several are broken and tail light cover is also broken. Dash lights appear to be OK. Any ideas on this? I'll buy bulbs for the tail lights today and get those repaired. Thanks!

Unplug the yellow wire on the regulator. It will be a small black box in the right foothold area.

Start the machine and let it idle only, if you rev it up the voltage will be to high and burn out all the bulbs.

If the lights are normall with the regulator unplgged then it's the regulator, if not, you have a short somewhere in the harness. Remove the seat and check the tail light wires first when looking for a short.

Right on the money, Also check for chewed wires with it sitting that long i'm sure some mice moved in and tried to make a meal out of the wires.
