Do you take ground temperatures?

Just curious as I never heard anyone report ground temps just air & water temps. I would like to know how cold the ground is, when it freezes & how deep the freeze line goes?

They do take ground temps, but it is mainly for agricultural reasons.

I personally do not take ground temperatures, but anyone could by getting a soil thermometer.

Thanks John just seems we would know when & which early snow storms will stick to the ground for better trail conditions when we know how deep the ground is frozen. Also we would know how close to freezing the ground is in Nov & Dec for a Fall to Winter turning point for sure.
