Hey John, I see in your latest journal entry one of the dogs was treeing a squirrel. I was wondering if you ever have a problem with them taking off after deer with all the walking you guys do in the woods. I'm always paranoid my lab is going to chase a deer and I'll never see him again. Short of a remote shock collar I don't really know what to do other than using a leash (which I hate doing).

No problems...yet!

Actually they have seen a few deer and have taken off down the trail after them, but the deer move so quickly, they give up the chase soon after it starts. Burt and Baileys used to do the same thing. I am not saying this will be the case with your dog and I really do not know what you could do to insure it would not happen short of a leash.
