Dollar Bay to Lake Linden trail comments needed

I have not seen this anywhere and just came across it today on the MISORVA facebook page, even though it was posted mid January I felt I should post it here. I have cut out a section posted by a Lake Linden business and pasted it below.

"After attending the Western UP Advisory Counsel Meeting we discovered the Lake Linden to Dollar Bay Trail needs our help. It was stated that Lansing is considering naturalizing the trail (installing rip rap just to preserve the land) instead of actually repairing the trail. We were told that if we want to stop this from happening we need to get everyone that we possibly can to send letters to Lansing as well as our representative #GregMarkkanen because there apparently has not been anything voiced by our community stating how much our businesses and economy relies on these trails. We don’t have much time left for this as the DNR has filled its last extension to be able to receive FEMA money to help with these repairs.

Please Everyone send in letters and pick up the phone to show how much we need this trail fixed!!! Please also share this post with everyone you know!"

I think that option is blown out of proportion. it was just one of the options they had to consider as worst case scenario. But its not what they want to do per Ed MacBroom State Senator. The first estimates were not enough and they have to go back to FEMA for more.

Listen to this interview with him this past Sunday. The comments on the trail #3 are towards the end of the 2nd segment.

State Senator Ed McBroom discusses what the governor’s proposed budget mean to the Western U-P, the latest on the fate of the Dollar Bay to Lake Linden trail, etc

Thanks eao, Senator McBroom's comments are much more optimistic than what was on the MISORVA FB page. Still could not hurt to let the politicians know how much we miss that trail.
