Don't forget about the covers

Just a thought as I was summerizing the sleds with a tear in my beer. I usually wash the cloth covers at the laundromat - did it at the house once and the wife tried to kill me. Air dry them, and spray on a little camp dry. I have also started using just the press on patches for the holes. The old Indy cover looks like a quilt.

Anyone else have any tips?

Yes sir, down to the laundrymat we go, the wife won't let that thing inside the house. I also set the Pressure Washer on medium and give the inside of the tunnel a blast or two. It gets rid of any sand and dirt that is lodged around the Heat Exchangers.

But here's one that I struggle with. The boots that I wear leave black marks on the aluminum tunnel wherever the heel rubs. It's a pain to clean up during spring maintenance. Does anyone else have this happen?

Yes, I've been using the Sled Brite products and they work good. What I'm wondering is if others have the same issue with the black marks left from their boots. I don't recall seeing this on other aluminum tunnels and am thinking it may be my particular kind of boot (BRP).

I get them too, my boots are from R.U. Outside. Now with the new sled having a black tunnel though, I don't notice them so much. :)

p.s. sorry, misunderstood what you were asking.

For the area with the marks on the running boards/tunnel, could use sme trailer gravel guard?

I have a black tunel on my sled and will be using some TechSpec motorcycle tank protector on the sides of the tunnel.

Covers? Don't miss cleaning them after having an enclosed trailer.

I hear ya..I have had various enclosed trailers since 1991...I think that is the last year I painted an exhaust because of salt dammage. Best investment I have made in the sport!!!

Yep, once you have an enclosed trailer, you will never go back, for many reasons!
