Doo MXZ800 Rave Oil Issue

Good morning....yesterday I uncovered my 2003 MXZ800 which has been sitting for a year or so (winterized and covered outside) ...Prior to winterizing it last it was running fine....I removed the tape from the spark plug holes and pulled the chord to check piston compression only to find oil spouting from the #2 Piston . Yes spouting up through the plug hole and filling the piston...my mechanic thinks its a lower end problem i.e. crank seal or something to the effect...ime thinking its a bad ring in the piston?

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Much Appreciated...

X2 why would you remove plugs all sorts of nasties can get in there including mice & water? Could be oil being pumped out from winterization keep puling then put in plugs see if fires up & burns clean.

Pure oil stream came out 3-4" high......I usually pull plugs and store inside....the plug holes were taped with TuckTape...nothing got in the cylinders

No I did not pour oil into the cylinder...

could it be a seized oil pump or frozen oil pump valve? I can try starting but with that much oil in the cyl I don't think it will fire...

first I always fill my cyl with oil to stop rust , it does run into case , I don't think oil will run up into cyl ,

Chances are you have a failed inner crank seal, the seal that keeps the center cavity oil from going into the crankcase. Easy way to test is to fill your oil tank to the top and let the sled sit for a day or 2. If the tank drains down to the level of the oil line that feeds the center cavity, then you've got a bad inner seal.

I will try this test...thx...if the level stays up I will try to fire up and see if its residual that may burn off..

Appreciate all the feedback here..

RePost MXZ*)) Oil Issue

Well it turns out that the MXZ800 had a bad oil pump (frozen open) along with a number of other minor issues....After a $900.00 full tune up with new floats needles, new fuel pump, pull chord assembly, gas line and grommets carb boots cleaned etc shes back up and running like new....I had them remove the oil pump and they told me I could run a 2 stroke mix directly in the tank..

I would imagine a 50:1 ratio is acceptable for this sled or does someone have another ratio that would run it better?

BTW...does anyone know how many gallons of gas the 2003 MXZ800 hold? Tank Size ?

Call a dealer or shop that works on skidoo's and they should be able to tell you ratio for that sled.

Well a grand later with good mechanics I got the MXZ800 up and running sweet...not crank seal issues or center low seal but a number of other issues...the oil was a bad oil pump frozen open....we disconnected it and I am running mix straight with great results...the sled needed new a full season tune, new floats and needles etc etc . at least no rebuild was necessary.....pushed her to the max in NY last week with no issues aside from a grip heater short that juiced me every half hour ! Lol
