Down the drain

How long has it taken to develop the best snowmobile trail system in the world? 50 to 60 years of damn hard work and dedication has gone into making the trail system in the U.P. . There have been many battles (some still going on!) over routes, connecting trails and access to towns. The mapping, the grooming authorities throughout the U.P., have worked for years to create all this.

I have been lucky enough to ride up there for almost 50 of those years and remember all the people and clubs that have fought hard to build this trail system! Alot of these people have been BUSINESS OWNERS. If you take away the bars, bar & grills, supper clubs along the trail, not only does it hurt the sport of snowmobiling in the U.P. but also effects the motels and gas stations along the way, especially in the more remote areas.

Recreation is a key business in the U.P. . The spring fishing and summer tourism has been affected. The hunting season was cut short. Now the snowmobile and ORV seasons are being taken away.

HOW CAN THESE BUSINESSES AND THE TRAIL SYSTEM POSSIBLY SURVIVE????????

If these unreasonable restrictions are allowed to continue there could be as many as 50 to 75% of on trail businesses going bankrupt! Without them there is no trail system. And that 50 to 60 years of work ........

GOES RIGHT DOWN THE DRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very well put Winter Warlock, hopefully things will change as it is truly sad for the business owners and you are correct will affect the season/sport as a whole. Well put! Just wish someone would realize the damage that will be very hard to undo.

The people making these decisions DON'T CARE. They haven't lost a dime, so they don't see any effect on themselves.

And what is their plan for the people being directly effected? NOTHING. Oh wait, here's a few crumbs back from what you gave us last year. Seriously pathetic.
