Track looks to be in great shape!! The cold temps will help make it last for a while.

Thanks for the link, at least I can see some of the action as no local tv stations televise it-if it was a football game they would!

Cam is slow to update now. Looks to be running a hour behind, 4 pm and no race yet. Kinda nice to sit in a nice warm house and watch the cam and turn on the local radio station to give live race results when ever they get going.

I saw sleds on the track after 3 pm, and then the cam quit updating. I just assumed it was over. I don't Facebook, but I bet the tracks Facebook may have an update.

Wondering if they cut the feed and WRJO was not able to cover it with the woodys pay per view? I noticed the camera angle change to cover less of the track this afternoon.

Chartier Wins Historic, Ultra-Close Eagle River World Championship

By John Prusak
January 20, 2013

Michigan-based Malcolm Chartier fought off a hard-charging Jordan Wahl on Sunday afternoon to win the 50th annual Amsoil Eagle River World Championship Snowmobile Derby in Eagle River, Wisconsin, in dramatic fashion. For the victory, he earned $60,000 in prize money, and a place in snowmobiling history.

Chartier led 29 of the 30 laps on his No. 33 Ski-Doo but never led by more than a couple of seconds on the high-banked iced oval. But late in the race, things got dicey, as Chartier tired on the rutted track while Jordan Wahl was dealing with fading brakes.

The two touched several times, Wahl took the lead briefly on his No. 747 Polaris before Chartier took it back and then, on the final lap, Wahl hit Chartier hard coming out of turn four, slowing both sleds. It looked briefly like third-place Matt Schulz might be able to get past both sleds, but then the three all drag raced to the waving checkered flag. Chartier got there first — .094 seconds before Wahl, with Schulz .095 back in the closest three-sled finish in recent history.

Here's the full story along with pictures.

I was there all day Saturday in the Cat sky box. Awesome view. Great races as well as intertaining with all the different classes of sleds. Never even knew of the outlaw class until I saw them race. Even had races for the kids (120cc). An extra bonus was Roger Janssen('69 Champ) was in the box for awhile. He told the story of his winning Cat had a Porshe motor. After his win Porshe flew him to tour the plant and sent him home with a new Porshe. Asked if he still had it?? No, sold it right away to pay bills.
I was also a winner of a gallon of Amsoil Extreme 2 smoke oil. Since I run 4's, I'll use it in the Diamond drives!
