Eagle River recommendations needed please

I’m staying at Wild Eagle Lodge this weekend with the Family. I have the touring sled, wife one the back, 4 year old in front. What would be a good direction to head to stay out of the hustle bustle? My boy is typically good for 1-1.5 hr legs. Thanks.

Probably best to head north or west lots of amenities conover, Phelps , Lando. Less traffic East to Phelps then loop back thru Conover or Lando but less amenities in Phelps. Enough but less than say Saint.

We did the trails north on thursday and they were in excellent shape. 1-1.5 hr loop you probably want to go 17 north to Phelps and then circle back west towards Conover and then 13 south back down to your hotel. Another loop you could do is 13N to 10W and then 7S back around into Eagle River.

This is good advice on what is the least traveled.

The problem is it is the weekend and it will be a zoo!
To be honest, taking a 4 year old on the trail "may" not be a safe idea. Sticking to private property with children who cannot hold on for themselves is best if it was my child.

Where’s a good place to have breakfast or lunch in Phelps or conover?

You’ll be in Phelps fast on Trail 17 road for a bit in ER then 17 miles or so and your in Phelps. Choice at that point is to eat at Great Escape or cross lake to Dublin’s. Northern Exposure not my kind of place but available too. Once in Phelps you have the choice to cross lake or loop around on 6w follow signs at 45 intersection to the Log cabin in Conover for lunch good food and family bar grill. From there short ride back to your hotel and your kid will be done by then. Not sure of your dates but a nice warm weekend coming up for family riding perfect for young child.

Wild Turkey in Conover. They have a smoker out back and we had a great sampler platter last weekend: ribs, brisket, chicken wings and curds. If your wife will drive you there, they have an excellent wall of bourbon as well.

We had a good little ride today. Ended up going to Lando and back. Eagle River was already getting bumpy by 1 when we were coming back into town. Took 3 to 8 to Lando. Ended up up on 13, 8 and south over pioneer lake on the way back down. Would have been better to find a bit straighter trails with the big touring. But it was still fun.

if you want a scenic ride without running into many sleds head East out of Eagle river trail 10, choices after that are south towards three lakes or north towards Phelps. Towards Phelps is the longer loop but great trails. If go south to could scoot thru Three Lakes then North up 17 and eat at the Honey Bear just outside E.R. Their cheese curds are excellent and I don't know if Ive had a better Fish fry.
I was just up there last week and the trails were excellent. Id avoid trail 10 between ST Ger and E.R. once its late afternoon or later, lots of traffic gets pretty rough.

Whoops I withdraw my advice I didn’t know you were wanting straight trails which are difficult to find in ER area unless you ride lakes. I’m a twisty rider get bored quickly with the straight stuff. I totally get ya tho no fun having your sons helmet banging the front of yours.
