Anybody have any recent info on south central Vilas, 70W to 7N, 7N to 8, or 10E/W toward Conover or Sayner/Boulder. Just want to know if I can easily make it north toward Conover without bare spots and total moguled garbage. I'm starting about 4 miles West of ER on trail 70W, at Sunset drive for reference.

Debating if this is worth one final trip or not. They are say 1-3 inches Friday (tomorrow) and another 1 inch Friday night, but high of 34 Friday and 33 Saturday. Below freezing on Friday night and tonite, so grooming might hold - IF they are grooming. Any help??

Thanks

Venturenorth parked in Sayner too thin to meet me in Phelps. We might try a last ride Saturday if we get 3" Friday night VN will trailer to Phelps that thin west of Conover. Many Vilas towns not grooming just don't have enough snow. IMO trailer to BC ride north, east & west of there & hope groomers can get out in warm temps to keep trails decent.

By cheat your way, I presume you mean ditches and round about ways to avoid the bad trail area's? That first 20 miles for me can be garbage. I have to get to the one ways on 13 toward Conover and that's 20 miles for me. Last time 10E was horrible and hadn't been groomed. So did you take 15N to Boulder or were you on 7N? Where were the bad areas? Any detail you can give me will be helpful. This will be the difference between taking a day off tomorrow or not.

If Venturenorth is parked, I know him and WD are riders and they go if they can, so that tells me not good. I'm not a "drive north 260 miles and then trailer north" type of guy. Pain in the azz pulling trailer out of garage, get it hooked up, load sled and go. Way too lazy and annoying for me.

I'm parked until Sat , only if that snow comes, otherwise, game over in Vilas....last rode Tues 7N 8E 12E to Phelps and back ... was fair in am, ice and dirt in pm.....
wish I had better news.....

VN said it is all ice or bare Sayner to Conover. We had a good ride in UP using Frs & trails so good VN wanted to ride again today said he would ride from Sayner allow engine & hyfax cooling time. I advised him not to do that too risky so he got access to a trailer. If we get 3" Friday night we prolly ride Saturday if no new snow we are parked for a long time.

Well the weathermen just changed the forecast for the 5th time in the last 72 hours, now 1" Friday AM, 1" PM. Had 1-3", and 1, about 2 hours ago. I look at Intellicast, Weatherunderground and JD together. Based on what VN and WD just told me, I'm out. Ridiculous a trip hinges on 3" of snow, that's how bad this year has been. And I have a full tank of gas in my sled. Guess I just run in circles on my property or on the lake edge to burn some of it up. Thanks for the feedback.

only area might be still be ok is 7N/8W junction towards BJ and back, or some of 6E towards Lando....
but will be bad getting thru 7N Lk Laura area....
roads, near towns, and busy trails are shot.....not much help for you coming from 10...

I would wait for a poss ride Sat.....?
