Earth Day 2014

Probably safe to say that most everyone on John Dee.com enjoys nature and the outdoors. Wednesday is Earth Day, first organized by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson back in the early 70's. I think Earth Day means different things to different people. Some like to Hug their trees, others recognize the value in responsible harvesting of our Natural Resources. Some like to hunt and fish, others are content to hike and bike. Politics aside, it's all good so whatever you like to do try to get out and enjoy a small part of the planet on Wednesday.

pretty sure today, Tuesday April 22 is earth day....did you just wake up from 420?....LOL

I don't celebrate these made up hallmark holidays.

I did rake some earth today to clean up the debris left from fall and winter...raked it into a big pile and lit it on fire...sumbish is still burnin too,.... real smokey.

Earlier today I lit up all 3 sleds and fogged the kra.p out of them.

Hey, you're right. Tuesday today is Earth Day. I agree on the Hallmark stuff but at least I don't have to buy a card for this one. Beside the Paper & Tree thing to make the card would be frowned upon by some...

I wonder how many out there will admit to remembering the first Earth Day? I have to admit I do. One of my profs showed a documentary on the pollution on Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga river (which actually burst into flames in 1969 – among other years).

Wow, a long time ago…Thanks Gary, now I have to go put on a little Brewer and Shipley and maybe some Steppenwolf.

There were some shady characters involved in the setup of the 1st Earthday

I sent Earth a card for earth day and it was returned by Earth saying next time please save a tree and use e-cards. Guess I will have to use the Starbucks card myself.

I would just like to go on the record as being strongly in favor of the Earth.

Just think of the narly air you could catch on the moon. And the landings from a 20+ foot fall would be much softer :)

I'm hosting a geocaching event that involves cleaning up trash, for the event I picked the local bike trail that also is the snowmobile trail in the winter. Figured I could give back a little for the activities I enjoy. Event is this Saturday and have a bunch of geocachers showing up to help!

LOL! hmm.. how best to explain geocaching? it amounts to a high tech scavenger hunt using a gps to find the object. Fun activity that will take you to places you have lived near and didn't know existed.
