My family and I will be headed to Marquette tomorrow1/29/16. This will be our first UP snowmobiling adventure. I have been looking over the maps and would like a good opinion as to which direction we should head? Any feed back would be great. Thank you

There is more snow east towards Munising. West towards Big Bay is good riding with more terrain than east. If you go west of Big Bay on 14 I think towards L'anse, just about the best trail ride in the U.P. if you go east towards Munising take trail 8 to 422 North to pictured rocks (Miners Castle). Worth a stop for sure.

Trails were good last week, Take tr417 east along the lake stop at Lakenenland then to tr7 (gas is available in Autrain or Christmas) the take tr 8 to tr422 (MIners Castle) We had a great time. We had 30" of new snow :)

The Big Bay trip is worth it just for the scenery

We have always enjoyed "The Big Pond" too! I know it is south vs east/west, but if you are in the area again, I woulddefinitely recommend a stop there. Here is a web link - http://www.uptravel.com/member-110/kitch-iti-kipi-(the-big-spring)-5932.html

Was just asking a groomer operator about this the other day while we were in Manistique. He didn't know what we meant. What's it like in the winter?

It's actually called the Big "Spring", not pond. It's on trail 7, on the west side of Indian Lake. Plenty of signs to guide you in. It is definetly worth the ride and can ride out in the raft even in winter. We were just there two weeks ago.
