Eastern UP sites

I've been all over the Western UP and now it is time I see the Eastern part. Can anyone recommend places to stop or things to see east of L'Anse to as far as I can make it by Saturday. I'm coming up Thursday night or REAL early on Friday.

I'm not really sure where I'm going or where I'm staying... was just gonna wing it. If anyone knows of any dog friendly places please let me know. I'm bringing my two ankle biters with me.

The trip between Munsing and Grand Marais is pretty this time of year and you can see some nice views. Be sure to see the little falls just west of Grand/m. Then futher east, you have to see Tahquamenon Falls, then white fish point...

Marquette has a couple dog friendly motels, and you can have lots of places to eat. Putzing around Marquette would include Sugar Loaf climb for the view, and ride around Presque Isle Park with easy walk to the rocky shore line, and sunset on northwest end of the park.

In these economic times, probably lots more places are "dog friendly" as it truly does bring in the business, at least in my opinion. I have an "awesome weiner dog" too, and always have my eyes open for this advertisement when I'm traveling. I've noted more places doing this as of late.

Regarding your vacation east in the UP, I'd recommend the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore area. It stretches between Munising and Grand Marais and has many really nice sites.

We did the Sault St Locks, Tahquamenon Falls and the Oswald Bear Ranch this summer. All were REALLY cool - got to see a 1004' freighter going thru the locks, my kid said the Falls looked like a root beer float and we got to pet a bear cub at Oswald's!

We wanted to hit the Shipwreck museum in White Fish Pt but didn't make it.

We camped so don't have recommendations on where to stay.

we always stay at the bear den on the taqua trail just south of paradise - great place to stay and great owners.

I've heard that Kemosabe has nice cabins and is dog friendly. They are just south of Munising so you could use that as a base to see the Pictured Rocks. They are on the NCN and have a link to their website from there. We're going up too; I see SNOW in the weather forecast

I have staid at Kemosabe cabins and it is a nice place to stay and they are really nice people and are dog friendly. While their i would check out minors castle, and their are a lot of waterfalls in the munising area. Grand Marais is west of their and has an awsome brewery, which has the best home made cream soda and good food.
