Without pissing off residents (trespassing) or running down bare roads or with difficult bank riding (I will have newbies in tow) - is there a relatively easy way to access the Eben Ice Caves by sled? Looks like 8 @ Eben Junction & heading north along Eben Road is the most direct route - but want to make sure it is sleddable. Tried Laughing Whitefish Falls a few years back with the group - and due to well-scraped roads and un-ridable snowbanks we ended up with toasty slides even at snails pace (some sleds were 2up). Appreciate the input!

North out of Eben to Frey Rd. Right turn. About a quarter mile the road turns left, and you go straight into parking lot. .75 mile walk in to ice caves. If hasn't snowed in a while is icy hike. If hasn't snowed in a while, roads might be hard on slides. Lots of ice on roads right now, should be able to get to Laughing whitefish falls easily too. Email me if you need more info.

D)Based on 118-119 years of records, from 1895-2014:
The Lowest Minimum Temperature (January): 16°F-20°F (No, really! But typically from the mid 20s to the low 30s.)
The Highest Maximum Temperature (June, July): 115°F-122°F (Where else can you find a temperature range of 100°F?)
Number of days 110°F+: 0 (1911) - 53 (1994), average: 11 (all time), 18 (1981-2010)
The Longest stretch of 110°F+ days: 18 (12 Jun 1974 - 29 Jun 1974)
And SNOW, even:
The greatest amount of snow ever recorded was 1.0 inch on 1/ 20/1933, & 1/21-22/1937.
Other times measurable snow was recorded include:
0.5" on 2/2/1939
0.4" on 12/21-22/1990
0.2" on 3/12/1917
0.1" on 11/28/1919
0.1" on 12/11/1985
Trace amounts of snow have been recorded on numerous occasions.
The most recent snow of significance, in areas below 2000 feet, was on December 6 1998. Snow fell over roughly the northwest half of the valley … where some accumulation was reported. Sky Harbor Airport recorded 0.22 inches of precipitation that day … but only a trace of snow.
The most significant documented snowfall event in Phoenix occurred on 1/21-22/1937. One inch was officially reported at the federal building at Central and Fillmore. However … up to 4 inches was reported in other parts of what is now the metro area. Snow was said to have remained in shady areas until the 24th of the month. Woo Hoo, break out da sleds, eh?
