Electric shield question

The sleds we will be renting do not have the plug in for a heated shield. They are also pull starts, so I would think that means there is no battery terminals to hook on to. Is there another fairly fairly simple way to hook up an electric shield? Thanks!

You would need to find a positive lead and tap into it for power as well as a ground wire or bolt for the ground side. Likely one of the wires leading to either the headlight switch or the handwarmers.

If you know what brand/model of sleds you're renting, someone here on the forum can probably tell you which wires are candidates.

Our HJC helmets always come with a harness with bare leads and something like that would work well to hook it up.

You would like have to use a crimp-on connector but make sure to remove it and tape the wires before you return the sled! I would not think the rental places would want you messing with wires.

Good luck!

2010 mxz's. I thought that might be the case. I was hoping there might be an "auxiliary" positive terminal somewhere to make it fairly simple. With it being a rental Im not about to go screwing around with the wiring, and Im sure they wouldnt let me even if i wanted to. I wonder why the plug-ins are not more common? the gsx'ers we had last year had em.

Ask the rental place to install them. It would make sense that the rental would be easier to rent if it had those on. All they can say, is "No."

All you need to do is find the regulator and use positive and ground. Electric sheilds run anywhere between 8-14V. I hooked up about 5 or 6 of these without a battery and they work great. If you need constant 12V like my wifes electric glove warmers, you need to pick up a $5 rectifier from Radio Shack. This will give you regulated 12V. It took me a couple days to figure it out but it works great with NO battery.
