Electrical short

I have a 2014 600 renegade that the dash, tach, indicator lights keep clicking on and off. Been in the shop numerous times, and no codes show up. The engine never misses a beat or head lights go out. Hand warmers to not work when this is going on, and miles do not tally. In 550 miles with a friend, mine only read 440. Any ideas?

Ground Issue? not just at the battery, follow negative cable to where it grounds on frame or engine, I'm sure other grounds will be there also, check to be sure clean and that securely attached, to check regulator just start the sled check dc voltage at the battery with the sled running should be battery voltage plus a little, should have around 13.5 -14 vdc at battery while running, I would assume there would be a fuse to protect the electrical if the regulator had failed however I could be wrong. also check the loom where the pod cluster plugs into main harness maybe a weak connection there?

Sounds like a bad connection, maybe a plugged connector for the Speedo pod or possibly a wire harness rub through. If the magneto was going bad you would think it would momentary stall the engine too. If it's a solid short to ground a fuse should blow but maybe it's too brief.

I had a similar issue some years ago on a high mileage sled....wire harness under motor rubbed through.
